Children's and YA author Mike Lucas chats about his latest picture book, Let's Build a Backyard, plus the dos and don'ts of pitching your book to a bookshop.

Mike Lucas started his career writing funny poetry anthologies and visiting schools and libraries to encourage kids to create their own silly rhymes.

His first picture book, Olivia’s Voice, was a 2018 CBCA Notable book, followed by Vanishing, Let’s Build a House and most recently, Let’s Build a Backyard.

His debut YA novel What We All Saw is out this June.
